BIO
Kelly Chambers, a Virginia Beach native and UVA graduate (class of 2012), has been playing the violin since she was 9 years old. She first started taking lessons on piano, but when a family friend came over for dinner and played violin, she fell in love and just HAD to give it a try. Since then, she has played violin in orchestras all through high school and college and in various community orchestras, including Symphonicity in Virginia Beach, and for pit orchestras for the musical West Side Story twice – it’s one of her faves! She also has a heart for the Lord and loves worshipping with her violin, playing in praise teams and for church events. Most recently, she’s been playing with the Blue Ridge Chamber Orchestra here in Charlottesville and for events and weddings in the Charlottesville and surrounding areas (www.kellychambersviolinist.com). For the past five years, Kelly has worked in higher education at UVA in Student Engagement, advising clubs and leadership programs. Now, she’s very excited to be joining the Front Porch team of teachers and musicians, where she can teach private and group violin lessons, combining her passions for music, teaching, children, and encouraging others.
