Senior Programs

Knowing that music can unlock memories and spread kindness, we welcome the opportunity to bring a range of musical activities to senior members of the community. In the fall of 2021, The Front Porch began a partnership with JABA, the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, to joyfully share music with participants of their Respite and Enrichment Center. In addition, we now regularly visit the memory care units at Linden House and Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge to play for and sing with residents, care givers, and staff.

The Front Porch has consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability to cater to the unique needs of our elderly population, combining musical expertise with a deep understanding of the emotional and spiritual well-being of our patients.

Each month the Front Porch Music encourages JABA’s Community to come together to enjoy their lovely music in a convenient location. We have enjoyed the friendships that have been made and the memories that we will cherish. We hope that we can continue to experience the lovely vocals of the artists of the program.

When I sang “This Little Light Of Mine,” the entire staff was up and dancing, singing, and clapping. Some of the residents joined in the dancing. It was as if time stopped for us to all share this magical and musical moment. The patient was delighted, as she loves enjoying music in a social setting.

The Front Porch musicians possess an unparalleled level of skill and artistry. Their performances are not merely displays of musical proficiency, but heartfelt expressions that touch the souls of our patients and their families. The Front Porch team has an innate ability to create an atmosphere of comfort, nostalgia, and positivity, which is instrumental in providing solace during the challenging times our patients face.
