The Front Porch strives to make music instruction available to everyone who wants to learn. To guide applicants and our review committee through the application process, we have established the following Financial Aid Guidelines.

Three ways to apply:

1. Complete an online Financial Aid Application below
2. Print, then scan the application and email to info@frontporchcville.org, including the first page of your most recent 1040 tax return.
3. Print application and mail it (or drop off) to The Front Porch at 221 East Water Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902. Include a copy of the first page of your most recent 1040 tax return.

Applications are due two weeks before the start of the session.
All Financial Aid requests are strictly confidential.
The Financial Aid committee will review your application and contact you to let you know if your Application has been approved.

What criteria are used to determine eligibility?
The Committee considers the following criteria: (1) family need based on income level and family size; (2) special circumstances, such as sudden financial change; (3) applicant’s commitment to musical instruction; and (4) availability of funds. Those applying for financial assistance will be considered on a first-come first-served basis, pending availability of scholarship funds. In most cases, The Front Porch offers partial scholarships so as to assist as many families as possible.

What are my responsibilities?
Aid should go to those students who are serious about music. Therefore, all students who receive financial aid are expected to maintain 100% attendance at all scheduled lessons and classes. This helps good practice habits and encourages a positive learning experience. In addition, all students receiving aid are encouraged to volunteer within the Front Porch community. This may include: volunteering at community events and concerts and assisting with various administrative projects throughout the year.
