Theo Herrin
BIO
Theocles Herrin is a Charlottesville and Richmond based singer/songwriter. While his musical journey started with playing the violin at a young age, his time as an undergrad at the College of William & Mary sparked a love for singing as part of the school choir and the a Capella group DoubleTake. After picking up the guitar as well, Theo graduated with a Minor in music, focusing on advanced songwriting and vocals. In 2020, he quit his desk job and moved back to Virginia to pursue music full-time–starting with joining the Front Porch as a teaching artist! For the past 5 years, Theo has performed around Virginia under the artist name “Theocles”, playing and recording original music rooted in folk, soul, and pop. Known for his iconic one-man-band loop pedal shows, Theocles has become a staple in the Cville and Richmond music scene–including being nominated for Best Music Artist in Cville in 2024. April 2025 saw the release of his first music video for the folk/pop dance song “Fiddle Baby”, the foundation for his first tour along the East Coast. When he’s not bringing his music to the stage, Theo loves bringing it to the classroom, teaching everything from beginner guitar to advanced band classes. Theo is also a proud long-running part of Front Porch’s Roots & Wings outreach program, and this past year wrote the foundation for the program’s first original song, “Hometown Beat”. Above all, Theo emphasizes the importance of fun and community when it comes to making music!
