I’ve been surrounded by, fascinated by, and emotionally moved by music for as long as I can remember. After completing a double major in systems engineering and music at UVA I earned a M.M. at the Manhattan School of Music. I have been very fortunate to make music alongside world-renowned artists such as Lalah Hathaway, Marc Cary, Vince Mendoza, and Jim McNeely and at venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Smalls Jazz Club, and Blues Alley. My goal as a teacher is to guide every student in developing their musical knowledge and technical proficiency so that the student has the language, vocabulary, and technical skills to fluently express themselves through music.

I love improvising in the kitchen and cooking up creative meals. Also, attitude is everything! “You can play a shoestring if you’re sincere.” – John Coltrane
