Music Exploration

Musicians are born when they’re given time to create, with no expectations or limitations. Music Exploration combines creativity and collaboration, and allows for students to guide their own learning of new musical skills.  Music Exploration is a flexible after school music education program for children ages 6-12. Music exploration activities include: writing poems and songs, singing, making beats, recording audio, playing ukulele, practicing standard notation note writing, discussing music and musical instruments, listening to music, dancing, and connecting with one another through music.

As a community partner it is a joy to host not just the youth participants that I work with daily but to be a witness to the beauty that happens when children (regardless of any differences)– are united and sing with their hearts. Emily and Matt have done an amazing work of being consistent, diligent and passionate about their mission as well as bringing in other people to support the work giving the youth something to look forward to and something new to hear whether it is a voice or instrument.

It’s such a joy each week to build relationships through music exploration: learning chords on the ukulele, writing songs, creating beats on the iPads; each week is different and flexible.  I love it!
