Description: More chords, more songs, and more practice so those beginning, beautiful, ringing guitar chords, and those challenging chord changes, become part of your guitar vocabulary as you create your new library of old favorite sing-a-long tunes. Railroad Tunes is a guitar course designed for advancing beginners to reinforce the strumming chord skills and will introduce new colors and voices to make your old six string guitar come to life. It is also perfect for anyone who long ago learned a few basic chords, left that guitar in the closet or under your bed to gather dust, and wants to get back in to making warm wooden acoustic music again. We will be looking at that well-loved folk music genre, railroad tunes…and the sons of Pullman porters and the sons of engineers. Can you hear those steel rails hummin’?
Prerequisite: Guitar – Beginner I or Guitar – Beginner II, or the ability to play a handful of chords and simple tunes.
Sampling of Tunes Learned: Wabash Cannonball, The Wreck of the Old 97, Freight Train, Hobo’s Lullaby, This Train is Bound For Glory, Railroad Bill, 500 Milles, City of New Orleans, I’ve Been Working on the Railroad and others.
