Description: This class is a continuation of Beginner I Mandolin. Students will continue to develop their right- and left-hand technique through some melodies with more complicating rhythms and note sequencing. Pickers will be incorporating more 8th note runs, more advanced string crossings and will be also introduced to harmony and waltz time. A few times throughout the semester, this class will join other beginner classes for 15mins to hone group playing skills.
Prerequisite: Mandolin – Beginner I or equivalent, such as playing Boil ‘em Cabbage Down, Cripple Creak, and Long Journey Home, independently with slow and steady rhythm.
Tunes: Soldier’s Joy (variation 2), Lonesome Road Blues, 8th of January (other similar material may be used)
What students will need:
Functional mandolin (bridge, strings, and tuners intact and in working order)
