Instructor: Kelly Chambers
Winter Session (12 weeks): 1/04/23 – 3/22/23
Day/Time: Wednesdays; 4:30 pm – 5:15pm
All classes will be held at our Dale Ave location (508 Dale Ave, just behind the Preston Ave Bodo’s).
Description: This introductory violin class is perfect for young beginner violinists! Students will learn foundational skills including parts/structure of the violin, basic care for the violin, how to hold the violin and the bow, basic rhythm and music theory, as well as how to play some beginner level songs (e.g. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star). We will begin going through the Essential Elements for Strings book. Students will learn to play with others in a fun, and positive environment. Parent participation and encouragement in between classes is helpful. Parent knowledge of practice assignments, enthusiasm, and support empowers students and greatly helps them with mastery of new material. Students are encouraged to commit to 15 minutes per day of practice. Parents are asked to attend the last 10 minutes of class.
Prerequisite: None! This class will be starting students from scratch. Kids with a little prior experience but with only a tune or two under their belt may join this class as well. Feel free to ask for guidance regarding placement before registering.
Required materials: tuner, notebook and pencil for practice assignments, folder for music, violin, bow, rosin, shoulder rest
