Description: This class is a continuation of Banjo – Beginner I. Students will learn new tunes, a little harder than the first, and will learn some new, advancing, techniques such as hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides. Students will continue developing their group playing skills through focusing on listening for chord changes, learning to “kick-off” a tune, and a couple simple ending licks to end. A few times throughout the semester, this class will join other beginner classes for 15mins to hone group playing skills.
Prerequisite: Banjo – Beginner I or equivalent. Equivalent includes being able to play a few simple tunes such as Boil ’em Cabbage Down and Cripple Creek
What students will need:
Functional banjo (bridge and all 5 strings intact, tuners in working order)
Picks (1 thumb pick and two finger picks)
Tuner
Notebook & pencil
Recording device optional
