Participants will learn to play at least one tune distinctive to each style and apply the bowing patterns and ornamentation techniques that correspond to regional Canadian fiddle styles. Looping allows a performer or group to record and layer sounds during performance. We will introduce ideas and overview of looping technology and how looping applies to writing music, improvisation, and expressing ideas. We will learn how to loop instruments and voice, creating improvised music in small groups and individually. These are older and more archaic tunes than are typically thought as being from Texas and the midwest.
