Musikgarten for Preschoolers with Molly Murphy

An event every week that begins at 11:30 am on Wednesday, repeating until June 19, 2019
Description: The Cycle of Seasons curriculum celebrates preschooler’s growing independence and love of the outdoors with activities involving the four seasons. Developed to build attention and self-expression, activities include singing, chanting, moving, focused listening, musical games, exploring musical instruments, creative movement and storytelling. The Cycle of Seasons nurtures a growing child’s ability to use language and participate in dramatic play within a musical context. Fun family packets including wonderful music CDs are included for use at home to increase family involvement in the learning process. (www.musikgarten.org)
Prerequisite: None! This class will be starting students from scratch.
What Students will Leave this class having learned:
- Tunes: A variety of childrens’ songs
- Technique: steady beat, pitch matching, focused listening skills
- Group playing skills: waiting their turn, cleaning up when we’re done with an activity, transitions from one activity to another, story-telling and acting out stories, musical play
What students will need:
- Additional $40 family package of materials required for this class. The packages include a scarf, a set of rhythm sticks or other percussion instrument, and a choice of a digital download or a CD of music with a book from that session’s curriculum. Material fee can be paid directly to the instructor on the first day of classes.
