Music! Yoga! Art! Camp
Kids are naturally creative explorers. At M.Y. Art Camp we will make space for them to express themselves just as they are, enjoying each moment as it comes. Our camp activities combine art, music, and yoga into a day that feels inspiring, grounding, and fun. Kids will spend their mornings in art and music classes. Music will be a fun way for kids to play, sing and move to popular songs from the Rock, Jazz and Folk genres. Campers will get familiar with the different styles through listening and jamming on fiddle or ukulele (no previous experience necessary!). Art will be a time for hands-on expression with various materials and mediums. The afternoon will include yoga, stories, popsicles, and singing, and we’ll end each day playing outside at McGuffey Park.
Matt Curreri is a Charlottesville-based songwriter, band leader, and teacher. His “catchy rock-and-roll chanteys capture the warm joys and cold sweats” of life. (The New Yorker) A graduate of The University of Notre Dame with a degree in literature, his melodic songs are melancholy or silly, dark or playful, but they always have a significant poetic content. Matt currently teaches math and music at The Charlottesville Waldorf School, and he plays regular local shows, both solo and with his garage rock band, The Exfriends. This summer Matt led a songwriting camp and a recording camp at The Front Porch followed by a performance of the groups’ original works at Tomtoberfest.
