An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until Jul 12, 2019
Campers will explore musical concepts through movement and experimentation with a variety of instruments, including the Orff xylophones, and ukuleles. Each day will include a key lesson, and time for exploration. Children will compose their own music and improvise and incorporate story and song.
Debby Norton has taught children in Charlottesville for 25 years. She holds an MEd from Loyola College in Baltimore with a concentration in Montessori education. She has AMI diplomas for 3-6 year olds and 6-12 year olds. She has taught at Mountaintop Montessori for ten years, where she has a class of 6-8 year olds where she has been teaching hula hooping and creative movement in after school programs and camps as well. She is certified in Orff-Shulwerk music and movement education Levels 1 and 2 and in Hoopnotica hoop dance. She is also certified as a 5 Rhythms Sweat Spaceholder and is in training as a teacher for 5 Rhythms dance, a movement meditation practice. Debby has facilitated movement for adults in the area for 6 years, teaches a class for adults in 5 Rhythms at the Front Porch, and loves to explore movement as an expressive medium.
